And so it begins...

I'm taking back the rickey.org domain from FuckPad.

To access the blog while I move, please go to rickey.typepad.com

Update: Though it survived the server move mostly intact, I am nuking the Forum. I'll try to keep the user list so when I bring it back in a couple of weeks, those who signed up don't need to anymore. If you have any discussions that you want to read/re-live, the forum will be up for a couple of days, but I will take down everything soon.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to recreate the blog in another server, and its been a pain in the neck. I am now certain that it will not be perfect, but I'm doing it for peace of mind. FuckPad is now offering financial compensation again for the outage last week. During the last major downtime, it took them a month to decide whether to refund money, and now they decided immediately. I guess the outrage at them was too great and they felt they needed to do something to stop the bleeding. Well, I'm still leaving.

Happy Festivus!

Here's wishing you holiday cheer for whatever holiday you are celebrating. Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, an advanced Muslim New Year (Feb. 10), and of course Festivus. rickey.org is all-inclusive. Haha. Personally, I'm celebrating the End-of-the-Transit-Strike Day. Metrocards for everybody!

Anyway, blogging will be light. Just the Con Con Girl threads and a Project Runway post next week. I will move my blog to a new server during the next few days so, hopefully, I will be joyous and happy when all of it is over -- I expect it to be a nightmare, but hey, FuckPad sucks. (Note: All posts and comments after December 16, 2005, I expect to be lost in the transfer. But I'll try my best to keep them all.)

And so thanks again for all your support. I can't believe the year is almost over and American Idol is just around the corner. I'm excited.

Best wishes always,
Rickey

Being Bobby Brown - Christmas Special

Whitney Houston is still a crack ho! She's obviously very comfortable with her new image of former-America's-sweetheart-turned-crack-smoking-diva who-will-now-never-have-a-comeback, if she agreed to this Christmas Special and a second season of Being Bobby Brown. She doesn't look like a person who just came back from rehab.

Project Runway: Season 2 - Episode 4

"Follow your bliss always." -- Daniel Franco

Daniel F, who would love to bring us beauty every week (and is also a tailor by the way), is out. Very close call for Santino's ego tonight. Although after Daniel's mini-Andrae breakdown, I had a feeling it would be him.

The Apprentice: Martha Stewart - Finale

Dawna wins the one and only and last and never to be repeated ever again season of Apprentice: Martha Stewart.

It was really no contest. I will check out Whole Living Body + Soul next month.

FuckPad

This weblogging company that shall not be named has screwed us over once again.

These guys have totally ruined my entire blogging experience here at rickey.org. One of the reasons I chose them in the first place was that I wanted a more professional blog without having to sit down and read a book for hours just to learn all this crap that goes in the background. The first year was great. However the past few months have just simply been dreadful. The irony of this experience is after two years of being a loyal and referring customer, they have now FORCED me to sit down and read a book for hours just to learn this crap that goes in the background so I can stop using their @#$!!% lousy service.

The painful truth for me is that there is no easy way to migrate rickey.org out of FuckPad because my blog is huge. I've been brainstorming solutions for myself, and I don't know if they will work, and it doesn't look like its going to be easy. There's now a chance that I might lose a lot of stuff once I haul my ass out of here, but my blog's ruined as it is by continuing to be hosted by Fuckpad so it doesn't really matter. I'll keep you posted when it happens, but right now I'm pissed.

The Apprentice: Donald - Finale

Apprentice0120051215

Randal Pinkett wins The Apprentice

Apprentice0220051215

Donald opened up the idea of also hiring Rebecca by asking Randal if he would hire Rebecca if he was in Donald's shoes. Randal however stuck to his guns and said there can only be one apprentice. Donald said that he might have been convinced but said, "let's leave it at that." I think Donald really wanted to hire Rebecca as well -- but after the slap in the face tonight in front of a live TV audience, I think Rebecca should look elsewhere, even if Donald offers her a job later.

Kong!

Kingkong7
*** SPOILER ***

So how do I dissect this 900-pound gorilla?

First of all, it's long. Running 3 hours, get ready to warm that theater seat for a while. You should probably plan your day around it. It's a big chunk of time from your life.

Secondly, there are scenes where you have to give director Peter Jackson extra helpings of suspension of disbelief. Granted that you have to give fantasy/action movies like these extra doses, 10-minutes into the dinosaur stampede, it became increasingly and visually improbable (not to mention difficult for my mind to comprehend) that a bunch of humans could outrun and outmaneuver a herd of 33-ton sauropods running full speed through the narrowest of ravines. And you know what's the catch? Most of the humans survived, while ALL of the dinosaurs died when they fell on top of each other.

Thirdly, it was kind of annoying that Jackson was not really friendly to minorities, killing both the only black guy in the main cast (how predictable!), and the Chinese guy in the bit role, who may or may not have had an affair with the butcher (played by Andy Serkis -- who's also the CG Kong). Haha. I'm not a crazed-activist, but I just noticed it because when Kong grabbed the black guy, there was just no chance in hell that he was going to make it.

Anyway, all those aside, there are still moments in King Kong that will make it worth the  price of admission. Kong vs. the Rexes was excellent, and Jackson did manage to make Kong a beloved character. I would still recommend King Kong. Just get ready since it's not perfect, and not a thoroughly fulfilling watch like Jackson's last film, the Return of the King.

Project Runway: Season 2 - Episode 3

(I'm pissed again at the blogging company that shall not be named. I wrote a long post last night, and then when I clicked on Post, they went into maintenance mode and I lost everything.)

You can find high-def pictures of last night's outfits at the Project Runway website.

My favorite quote last night was from Tim: Daniel, you're on the floor again. Hahaha.

Happy that Nick Verreos won the Barbie challenge. Chloe Dao is still my favorite designer. I am now in constant anticipation of Diana Eng's designs.

Raymundo Baltazar's losing entry:
